RFUW NEWS UPDATE – November 08

2010 iRB Women’s Rugby World Cup – England have won the right to host the 2010 iRB Women’s Rugby World Cup. The prestigious tournament, which was last held in Edmonton, Canada in 2006, will be staged across West London and will showcase the top 12 international teams in world rugby. The RFUW and RFU fought off stiff competition from Germany, South Africa and Kazakhstan to host the 2010 event. Further details will be announced in due course.

RBS 6 Nations – England kick-off their defence of the RBS 6 Nations at home on February 7th against Italy and with the iRB Rugby World Cup 7s running concurrently in March, England could face one of their toughest seasons since the 2006 Rugby World Cup. This year the England home games will take place at London Welsh RFC in Richmond which is a great venue, with fantastic transport links that is also close to the men’s games at Twickenham should you wish to watch both matches or just soak up the atmosphere.
